Built by a Business Owner, for Business Owners.
FACT began with a simple frustration: a business needed better software, and the right software didn't exist yet.
Where it all began
In the 1980s, FACT Founder & Group CEO Arvind Agarwalla was helping run his family’s petrol station in Kolkata, India. After bringing a personal computer into the business, he began looking for software that could simplify its accounting.
What he found was a gap.
Businesses were beginning to adopt computers, but accounting software was largely custom-built, fragmented, or simply unavailable.
So he decided to build something better.
Where it all began. Kolkata, India.
One Computer. One Business Problem. One Big Idea.
In 1984, Arvind brought an Apple IIe-compatible computer from Hong Kong to his family’s petrol station in Kolkata.
He hired a consultant to create an invoicing program. Curious about how it worked, Arvind began studying and modifying the software himself—looking for ways to make it faster and more useful.
It led to a bigger realization.
Companies were beginning to buy computers to automate their accounts, but there was no readily available software that could simply be purchased and used across businesses.
What if powerful accounting software could be built once, continuously improved and made accessible to businesses everywhere?
That idea became FACT.

1987: FACT Is Founded
FACT was founded in Kolkata in 1987 with a new approach: instead of businesses commissioning their own accounting programs, FACT would create packaged business software that could work across companies.
In early 1988, FACT sold its first basic ledger system for ₹3,999, about $53 SGD.
But that first product was only the beginning.
As customers asked for more, FACT kept building—expanding from accounting into the many interconnected functions required to run a business.
That customer-driven approach to development remains part of FACT today.

From Kolkata to 40 countries

FACT’s journey began in Kolkata, but it didn’t stay there for long. The company expanded into Nepal in 1991 and established FACT Software International in Singapore in 1992, making Singapore the headquarters of the FACT Group. In 1993, Arvind moved to Singapore with his family, building FACT’s international business from its new home. Singapore also became home personally: his two daughters were born there in 1996 and 1999.
As FACT put down roots in Singapore, the company continued to grow across Asia, establishing local operations in Malaysia and, later, the Philippines.
Today, FACT is headquartered in Singapore, with offices and local teams in India, Malaysia, Nepal, and the Philippines.
But FACT’s reach extends far beyond its offices. Businesses in 40 countries are live on FACT.
That means nearly four decades of experience building software capable of supporting different businesses, currencies, regulatory environments, and ways of working—while maintaining local teams who understand the markets FACT directly serves.

Where It Started

FACT Software International is established in Singapore, which becomes the headquarters of the FACT Group.

A New Home in Singapore
Arvind moves to Singapore with his family, making the new headquarters not only the centre of FACT's international growth, but his family's home. His two daughters are later born in Singapore in 1996 and 1999.

FACT strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia with a local operation in Malaysia.

Family Wealth Management Module is born
Family Wealth Guru grew from a problem FACT customers—and Arvind’s own family—were experiencing. FACT began building a wealth management layer directly on ERP.NG, integrating investments with the financials and allowing family offices to view multiple entities as one portfolio.

Export Documentation Module is born
Export Doc Guru brings the entire export documentation process into FACT ERP.NG—from inquiry through commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates—drawing directly from existing product and financial data.

First ERP Integrated with Singapore’s Networked Trade Platform
FACT Software became the first ERP software provider to complete integration with Singapore’s Networked Trade Platform (NTP), receiving its integration certificate from Singapore Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat.

CXO Control Tower is Invented
Stranded in India during COVID-19 and managing FACT companies across five countries, Arvind created the CXO Control Tower with FACT’s CTO—one screen giving CEOs instant visibility into their most important business numbers.

The Document Vault & Due Date Management Module Are Born
FACT created the Document Vault to bring scattered documents into one structured place, and Compliance Monitor Guru to centralise due dates for statutory filings, bills and payments with automated reminders.

FACT ERP.NG Listed on IRAS’ Accounting Software Register (ASR+)
FACT ERP.NG was officially listed as a Tier 2 solution on Singapore’s IRAS Accounting Software Register Plus (ASR+), recognising its support for tax-compliant accounting and record-keeping.
